RAISING THE ROOF FOR MULTI-GENERATIONAL LIVING

Jackson, Wyoming

Given the high housing costs in the valley, we are developing homes that offer private living spaces for two generations. Multigenerational properties improve home affordability and enable families to support each other, allowing older generations to age in place with the care of their loved ones. There are numerous options to explore tailored to individual needs, available land, subdivision restrictions, building codes, budget, and each family's unique requirements.

For one family, the best solution is a 937-square-foot upstairs addition over the garage that will serve as an integrated accessory residential unit (ARU) for their adult daughter. This two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment will feature a master bedroom with a walk-in closet and an ensuite bathroom equipped with double vanities. To enhance natural light in the bathrooms, which lack windows, sun tubes will be installed. The front of the addition will include an open living and dining area along with a kitchenette (which will not include an oven), a stackable washer and dryer, and a private covered deck.

The apartment will have access from within the original home, as well as a separate entrance via a stairway on the side of the house. The garage has been moved forward on the property, creating space behind it to establish a mudroom/laundry room and a workout room for the entire family.

Once completed, the addition will completely rejuvenate the front façade of the home, giving it a fresh identity, offering a more contemporary look, and greatly enhancing its overall value.

Every property is unique and personal needs vary, meaning that multigenerational living looks different from one family to another. If you would like to explore the options available for your family situation, please contact our office. We welcome the opportunity to assist you!
