Hello, everyone! We hope you’re soaking up all the joy these lovely warm months have to offer! Summer often brings visiting families and friends here to enjoy the fantastic opportunities we have for exploring the parks, hiking, camping and the many activites available on the water - rafting, boating, fishing, kayaking and paddleboarding.

One of the best aspects of summer is spending time in and around water. Water is refreshing, rejuvenating, and incredibly relaxing all at once. Incorporating water elements into our homes creates a unique ambiance and a sense of well-being that is unmatched. In this newsletter, we are excited to showcase some projects that beautifully integrate water into their designs. Enjoy!

This home in Wilderness Ranch beautifully blends the charm of the American Shingle style with the elegance of Northwestern mountain lodges. It features a rich texture that includes log columns and beams, wood shingles, wood plank and chink siding, as well as ledge-laid stone and brick veneers. Principal Chris Moulder focused on designing both the house and the entire three-acre site, which includes re-circulating ponds that are home to cutthroat trout year-round, all connected by a peaceful, gently flowing brook. It truly is a perfect paradise for nature lovers!

The brook flows through the house via a connecting bridge, which offers privacy for the master suite, separating it from the more public areas of the home. The bridge spans over running water, allowing the owners to observe healthy cutthroat trout and enjoy a stunning view of the Grand Teton peak, perfectly framed by one of the windows. By opening the windows of the bridge, the soothing sound of water fills the house, enhancing the connection to nature.

Sometimes, a property may not have readily available water, yet the owners still desire a water feature. DMA designed this infinity pool to create the illusion of having no edge, making it appear as though the water flows seamlessly over the edge into the Snake River below.

DMA created a circular stream system for the North Elk Ridge residence that integrates an existing irrigation ditch on the property. The stream begins in front of the dining room windows, flows under a covered entry bridge into a small pool, and continues beneath the corridor leading to the master wing. It ultimately ends in a large water feature located behind the home. This system not only enhances the landscape but also fosters a tranquil ambiance on the property.

In designing the Dairy Ranch home, Principal Kurt Dubbe aimed to create a harmonious composition of landscape, building, and site that integrates seamlessly with the natural surroundings. The goal was to craft a unique and comfortable residence that would complement an existing guest house made of log and reclaimed wood. The style aimed to be elegant yet rustic, honoring the historic vernacular of Jackson Hole.

Kurt incorporated an observation tower into the design, drawing inspiration from the nearby ranger stations in the National Park. This tower provides a sweeping 360-degree view from within the home. Additionally, the design team utilized a natural spring creek that meanders through the property, redirecting it from the front of the house to the back. This allowed us to create a beautiful reflecting pond and stream, which can be enjoyed from a spacious patio.

Inspired by E. Fay Jones’ Thorncrown Chapel near Eureka Springs, Arkansas, this Event Barn features a delicate wooden structural frame with open sides and large glass windows, creating a unique ambiance that connects guests to the natural beauty outside.

To enhance the magical connection between the structure and the land, a recirculating, naturalized trout pond was designed in front of the barn’s glass facade. The pond pulls double duty, serving as a serene reflection pool and integrating the building with its surroundings, ensuring it merges with the property rather than dominating the landscape.

TO CELEBRATE

Teton County School District’s new Transportation Facility broke ground this week with Ormond Builders commencing construction of the project. The new building, covering 17,600 square feet, will replace the existing bus barn built in 1975. It will include nine bays for bus maintenance, as well as office space and employee facilities, such as locker rooms and break rooms.

The design also includes essential storage areas for tires, windshields, parts, lubricants, batteries, and more. It is incredibly rewarding to be part of a project that creates a pleasant and safe work environment for the district’s maintenance employees. This facility will enhance the efficiency and safety of the district’s bus system as it continues to grow.

The groundbreaking ceremony was a wonderful gathering of dedicated professionals! We were excited to have Jeromy Slater, the Project Manager from the State Construction Department; Nick Contos and Chris Lamorena from Ormond Builders; Chris Moulder and Kurt Dubbe, the Principals of Dubbe Moulder Architects; Jason Berning, the Owner's Representative and Project Manager at Berning Project Management, LLC; and Mackenzie King, Project Manager, also from Dubbe Moulder. Together, we’re building a bright future for Teton County School District!

NOTEWORTHY - Chrysalis Award

Dubbe Moulder Architects is proud to announce that we have received a Chrysalis Award for a Whole House Remodel project we completed. The Chrysalis Awards for Remodeling Excellence, which began in 1993, encompass 30 categories of residential and commercial remodeling. Winners are chosen for four geographical regions across the country, and regional winners are then assessed to determine a national winner in each category.

We are thrilled to have won in the West Region, which includes Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, New Mexico, Nevada, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. The awarded project, designed by Chris Moulder, is located on Horse Creek Mesa in Teton County, Wyoming.
