The Vestrup Residence lies on a .22 acre perimeter lot in Rafter J Subdivision in Jackson, Wyoming with clear views of the Teton Mountain Range to the west and northwest as well as the Gill Cattle Ranch to the west.
The client, a concert pianist, needed a space for his grand piano so DMA used it as a focal point of the house by placing it at the end of the linear plan where the location and geometry draw the eye immediately through the space.
The 1,876 square foot first floor living area includes the open music, living, and dining areas, the kitchen, a study, a powder room, and two bedrooms with a shared bathroom. Adjacent to the two-car garage is a laundry and mudroom. Finishes are clean and contemporary; the white walls keep the spaces light and airy while the dark wood floors impart richness. A spacious master suite occupies the 632 square foot second floor and includes an entire wall of shelving dedicated for the owner’s library. High windows provide natural light and views but also affords privacy in the two-room master bath. Off the master bedroom is a deck for relaxation with commanding views of the mountain range to the west.
