The project site at the acute intersection of South Park Loop Road and West Broadway ( or South Highway 89) in Jackson, Wyoming lends itself as not only a challenge, but an opportunity. The challenge was how to effectively utilize a tight angle on the property which, like an arrow, points directly at travelers heading south on Broadway. Also, the dilemma of shoehorning a program of approximately 24,000 square feet on 2.74 acres, provide a minimum of 77 parking spaces and allow large vehicles and trailers to comfortably navigate without incident.
A mixed use of 8 covered gas filling pumps, a convenience store, an auto lube and car wash building, an auto service and auto retail center, two additional buildings for light vehicle repair and maintenance as well as storage and affordable living units round out the travel plaza. The design style and philosophy inspired by the Hamilton Stores of nearby Yellowstone National Park provides an appropriate series of traditional structures to this “gateway” property to Jackson Hole.
