THIRD AND LITTLE

Mixed-use, 2-floor building at the corner of two streets

Driggs, Idaho  •  7,935 sq. ft.

Design Team: Chris Moulder, AIA; Rick Baldwin, Clayton Bieber, Jennifer Roberts

The Third and Little mixed-used commercial building is located on Ski Hill Road (Little Avenue), on the way to Grand Targhee, in the heart of the growing town of Driggs, ID. With a total of 7,935 square feet of leasable space, it provides small business with the perfect setting.

The 2-story structure has two main entrances, one accessible from Little Avenue and the other from Third Street. It fits into a neighborhood of a small “Mom and Pop” shops as well as residences.

The main level houses a gym and a café with a small kitchen for immediate service. On the top floor are three large offices for the tenants to organize their work and businesses. The basement floor was designed with two ideas in mind, storage for all the tenants and to create a prep kitchen large enough to meet the café’s needs.

A patio lined with grey bricks wraps two sides of the building, and one half is for the café’s exclusive use for customer flow in summer months. Two main stairways give access to street parking to the south and east, while a third one leads to a handicapped parking area in the back.

Dubbe Moulder gave Third and Little a rustic quality by choosing earthy colors for siding and trims, and a variegated stone veneer wall on one corner with large-span windows to diversify the architecture. The building thus blends in with the surrounding environment of Driggs, but differentiates itself in a commercial sense.
