Homestead Plaza: Jackson Hole, Wyoming

Dubbe~Moulder Architects converted a 47,000-square foot vacant grocery store into commercial spaces for two national tenants and a local sporting goods retailer.

The design included updating the facade and creating three distinct lease spaces. Due to a wide overhang and no fenestration, the principal frontage of the building was dark and forbidding. The solution opened this north-facing facade with large areas of glazing and elevated canopies at each of the tenants’ entries. This reinforced the individual identities of each store, while offering a more welcoming prospect to the shopping public. An articulated external sheathing of clear Finnish birch, exposed fasteners and glue-laminated lumber creates visual interest and radiates the warmth of natural materials in a natural setting.
